For appear as posts on a specified page you must have a page template that show posts from certain categories or tags (determined by your campaign)

Feed crons don’t run unless I do it manually. I have the latest version, I want to buy the pro version but why don’t the feeds auto post as they did with the older WPeMatico?
Does the pro version allow for only adding a feed if filter keyword exist in the title. In other words, I don’t want to filter OUT based on keyword, I want to filter IN.
The plugin have keyword filters based on content or title and two areas: MUST include word or CANNOT include word. Of course supports multiple words in every area

Great feature, thnking of grabbing the pro version, but for now we’re just facing some minor problems.
– {Rewrite options) completely don’t work
– Some Feeds are cut after xx words. Seems in the original there is a link, of pagebreaker.
– some feeds give the title but a blank text
– RegEx doesn’t work

You should not base your buying decision on the feature “full-content”, because doesn’t works with all sites. Depends of website and feed used. Many of them are protected.
But if you have rights for use, you can send me the feed and I’ll tell you if is working well before you buy.

Most of the time it’s something related to the source feed. check if your issue are on all feeds, then may be something related with your hosting configuration about uploading external files.
Or may be your Image settings. Images Cache and Images attach to posts on WPeMatico Settings.
What about to update the internal SimplePie to 1.3.1. This version corrects some BUGs. One of them makes, for example, grab feeds from Slideshare not works.
How it control duplicate posts… As you can see… it started to create the same post 4x… There is a solution for this!?

For whatever reason, wpematico doesn’t let videos inside of posts to be embedded in the posts… I have several news sites that provide feeds with videos and wpematico seems to strip out the video embeds… Any ideas? Anyone?

Have yet to see PRO pull a full content feed from the RSS feeds you approved, Etruel. The {content} variable is always empty so far. This makes the post look strange when all it has it a title and a link to the source but no content. Suggestion: How about programming it so IF there is no full content, then the RSS feed’s content is used instead. That way, those of us spending the extra $$ don’t feel cheated when Full Content feature doesn’t generate any content.Thanks!
The feature works on almost all sites but not all. If you are trying with the feeds that I test then must be work. Please contact me by email. May be can see something on settings or your hosting not allow get external file contents
On next version (may be august) you can select trash or skip if no image or no content…
“IF there is no full content, then use RSS feed’s content” is a good idea, too.

You must take this as a tool that can publish posts for you.
This is the same that you read something on some website and then post it in your blog.
Take in mind that is the same content that you has read before. If you abuse it, some search engines don’t like it. But in almost all cases will be indexed normally if you do the things smartly.

I have used the the free version of your plugin and I like to buy the pro but I have just one question to ask. is it possible to attribute the read more( with the source link) in the bottom of the post? instead of on the “title,permalink”. That is after you click on the title it takes you to the content detail page where you are presented with some contents of the article and then the read more link under it. I can’t see that working in the free verson and it appears it is also not in the pro version. Please let me know and reply asap.

This is working well for me on a test site, but I’m having a problem with a certain feed. Looking through the feed validation, it looks like the feed has no {content} sections – only {teaser} sections. The owner of the feed (who has given permission to import as posts) said they can increase the size of the teaser to include the whole article, but they would have to build something new if we needed the {content} section. Is there any way to adjust WPematico to use the content in {teaser} for the post content (on just one feed – not others I have running)?

Esteban, Very often the image cannot be download from the post. This makes the final post look terrible with a broken image. Can you provide an option in Wpematico: “If an image on a post cannot be extracted/downloaded then skip the post”

with the free version, the plugin sets correctly the featured image taken as the first image of the post, but with the pro actived, the plugin does not set the featured image anymore.
If I deactive the pro version, back to work properly.

May you have “add first in post content” and also in post-template textarea.
Or also can be in your theme options you have print thumbnail before post content.

Esteban, When we create a new campaign, we do not have the option to save the posts extracted as DRAFT. If I click on the PUBLISH section on the RIGHT all I see is Move to trash, run now and update. I do not see the radio buttons for STATUS and POST TYPE

I have downloaded your plugin in an attempt to use it, at the recommendation of a friend and am having the issue of only receiving 10 posts at a time, no matter how I configure the retrieval. I have disabled hash/duplicate with the same results. I have set the quantity to 0, to allow the maximum amount to be retrieved. All it does, is either duplicate the originally 10 received, or tells me that there is a duplicate hash. So the check for duplicate content is working, however, I am unable to get more than a total of 10. I’ve also tried using the feed date – all seem to fail to get more than 10. Is the free version limited to 10 at a time per feed? What is causing this to only retrieve 10? I’ve tried setting 20, 25 and unlimited. Getting frustrated as I can’t seem to get it to work as I need it. I don’t want to abandon it if its something that isn’t set correctly. Please advise.
There is no limits with free version.
May be your source feed has no more than 10 items?
Anyway I think that the best configuration is receive 2 or 3 items with a cron every hour. If your source has too many publications you can set cron every 5 or 10 minutes.

Hi.. so I am loving this plugin.
However I have an issue for my site.
As my rss feed that I am calling is used for events. These events are posted with a date in the future. This is fine as your plugin changes the date.
Unfortunately if I post my rss events out of sequence the plugin finds the duplicate first and then doesn’t process any other events that may remain. Is it possible for it to continue reading the RSS if it finds a duplicate rather than stopping at that point?
It is very rare that an item be added to middle of a feed, then to save server load, the process is interrupted when found the first duplicated item. (this may work wrong with manual campaigns fetching but works well in cron mode)
Then if you want to try, may be possible a little trick on a file to get it to continue over all other items. Have in mind that this will work for all campaigns. (I not recommend this because all items on feeds will be readed many times.)
1. Activate Allow Hash Duplicate feature from Plugin Settings.
2. Now you must open an edit a file: plugin_dir/app/campaign_fetch.php
go to line 105:

replace with:
continue;
Now you can try if it working as you want.

Esteban, Very often the image cannot be download from the post. This makes the final post look terrible with a broken image. Can you provide an option in Wpematico: “If an image on a post cannot be extracted/downloaded then skip the post”

Hi … When I connect WPeMatico to a rss feed that comes from Google Alerts, my titles contain a and a tag. Also those “b’s” are in the link of the article that is posted.
Any idea how to remove those tags and prevent that those extra b’s get into the post-url?

Hi, It’s like you have to many feeds in some campaigns. You can add unlimitted feeds in every campaign, but is limited by your server resources and also time to load every feed.
You can change timeout seconds on Settings, but I recommend less url feeds in every campaign and fetch 2 or 3 items every time.
First.. I love this plugin! I do have a suggestion.. It would be amazing to be able to pass an expiry date from the original posts to the created posts. As I use this plugin for events rather than news an expiry date is something I need to do manually 🙂 Just a thought!

Esteban, If I send in a feed which has a youtube video, Wpematico strip out the Iframe component of the feed. So the video does not display on the web page. Here is an example of an rss with video http://healthnutrisystems.com/rss_feeds/test/hil_gestational-complications.xml . If you look at the feed using any editor you will see the Iframe (View source in IE). The use Wpematico on the RSS feed and the page that results does not have the Iframe. So not video will show up on the page

You can also test it with version beta 1, it’s published since july 10 to make tests like this.
New version can enable or disable feed content tag filters, that come with simplepie library. (like iframe or embed that takes out videos)
Remember that free version just take feed content of sources.
I need beta testers, sponsors, etc. as almost all features are for free. I have lot of work to do and money can help.
I’m also working on new PRO version to release after finish with 1.2 free.

1) With the Current version I went to PRO options and ENABLED – Enable attempt to Get Full Content feature. When I do this, I can get the video down to wordpress post correctly although some images which were in the original post do not appear to come across. Unchecking this options, gets all the images down correctly but does not get the video
2) I tried the 1.2 Beta version. “Enable full content” would not get the video down. Also if you enable “Get Images from RSS” with “Add firsts to images on content. (Make featured)” and save it, it does not save it (The checkmarks disappear)

Is it possible to add “throttling” to the “Pro” version of the plugin? We have a client whose site comes to a crawl when pulling in new posts, and I think the server would be able to handle it better if we could throttle to one article import every few seconds rather than in one big pull.

I recently started using the free version of the plug in, and I am ready to jump into the paid version. Before I purchased, I had a quick question: Can each feed in a campaign be assigned to it’s own category? I know each campaign can be a category, but I need each RSS feed to be its own, within the campaign. I could easily create 1 campaign per RSS, but that seems like it will cause more work when the crontab kicks off the pull.

The plugin don’t allow categories per feed, anyway for performance is better more campaigns with assigned categories working with single feeds on different scheduled times.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will schedule my feeds per category. I was going to use crontab to kick off the WP cron. I am not sure if it is possible to have crontab kick off a particular campaign directly, or if it just runs all of wordpress’ cron jobs at the same time.

I am using the free version for couple of weeks and am very happy about it. But since the last update two days ago it is not working anymore. I use Fivefilters.org generated RSS feeds. That doesn’t seem like a WPeMatico problem. Contact your server provider support group. It sounds as if maybe idiots are trying to log in to your server, which is something that the Wordfence plugin can help with — tell Wordfence to block IPs which fail too many logins.

The New version 1.2.4 is able to get the post down from the RSS but it keeps spinning and spinning and does not set the featured image to the post. If I open the WordPress post I am able to see the image. I have already confirmed that “Make featured RSS image” is checked on the campaign. Is there something on the post that wpematico does not like that is causing it to go continuously spin and go into an indefinite loop thereby causing the high CPU utilization. See RSS feed on initial ticket
Also with version 1.2.4, wpematico is setting featured image as the last image in the post. We really would want the first image as the featured image and that is the way the earlier version and previous versions used to work. Anyway I think it is possible change the charset with adding a wordpress filter to change the content before insert the post.

you can disable in your theme to not show the featured image in single pages content.
There are another solutions but requires some external filter to strip images from content before save or before show the image in your theme.

If you can send the form with debug file on http://etruel.com/support/ with phpinfo, we will study your server setup and compare it with other without the issue to try to find the differences

2. It depends on which translation service you choose, Google Translate is free, and Google Cloud Translate is payment.

I love WPeMatico, in fact, I was looking at purchasing it for use on our site. I have this issue that is super annoying me, however. If I do a manual fetch, the messages display in the activity feed of the BuddyPress powered side. But when it does the auto-fetch, it does not display. It did do this at one point, but now it doesn’t, which leads me to believe there is a setting somewhere I messed with but I cannot figure it out. Can you tell me?

Actually just as pages. (Not subpages) but is a good option for the future.
For appear as posts on a specified page you must have a page template that show posts from certain categories or tags (determined by your campaign)

Does the pro version allow for only adding a feed if filter keyword exist in the title. In other words, I don’t want to filter OUT based on keyword, I want to filter IN.
The plugin have keyword filters based on content or title and two areas: MUST include word or CANNOT include word. Of course supports multiple words in every area
This feature doesn’t seem to work for me – it looks only at the first keyword and ignores any on new lines below.

Great feature, thnking of grabbing the pro version, but for now we’re just facing some minor problems.
– {Rewrite options) completely don’t work
– Some Feeds are cut after xx words. Seems in the original there is a link, of pagebreaker.
– some feeds give the title but a blank text
– RegEx doesn’t work
Further it helps us to save 3 hours a day allready, perfect!

You should not base your buying decision on the feature “full-content”, because doesn’t works with all sites. Depends of website and feed used. Many of them are protected.
But if you have rights for use, you can send me the feed and I’ll tell you if is working well before you buy.

On PRO version you can also use automatic tags feature, but not include inside post content.

Most of the time it’s something related to the source feed. check if your issue are on all feeds, then may be something related with your hosting configuration about uploading external files.
Or may be your Image settings. Images Cache and Images attach to posts on WPeMatico Settings.
Hi. I’ve done more testing & research on the wootheme that I’m using. According to woothemes the issue is a pathing issue. When I manually upload an image the path is:http://new.linkedlocalnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/JimTreleaven.jpg
When wpematico uploads an image the path is http://new.linkedlocalnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads//2012/11/image-425589-thumbsmall-hfih.jpg
The difference from what I can tell is the “//” between uploads & 2012 directories. How/What do I change in order to remove the extra ?

What about to update the internal SimplePie to 1.3.1. This version corrects some BUGs. One of them makes, for example, grab feeds from Slideshare not works.
How it control duplicate posts… As you can see… it started to create the same post 4x… There is a solution for this!?

is there a way to temporarily disable check for duplicates, and accept all items in a feed? Some of my posts have duplicate titles, but are different posts. I have deleted hash, and enabled “allow unfiltered content”, but it is still refusing to grab the posts with duplicate titles. Thank you very much for any ideas.
I just downloaded the plugin and have one problem when it reads the RSS from google alerts. Somehow it has the <b> </b> in between. It suppose to be bold.

If you check (allow) dup. Titles and uncheck dup. Hash you get what you need.

For whatever reason, wpematico doesn’t let videos inside of posts to be embedded in the posts… I have several news sites that provide feeds with videos and wpematico seems to strip out the video embeds… Any ideas? Anyone?

Have yet to see PRO pull a full content feed from the RSS feeds you approved, Etruel. The {content} variable is always empty so far. This makes the post look strange when all it has it a title and a link to the source but no content.
Suggestion: How about programming it so IF there is no full content, then the RSS feed’s content is used instead. That way, those of us spending the extra $$ don’t feel cheated when Full Content feature doesn’t generate any content.Thanks!

On next version (may be august) you can select trash or skip if no image or no content…

Does this plugin store files on my site server. It seems my site is growing beyond capacity constantly but when I deactivate this plugin the growth almost totally stops. You must take this as a tool that can publish posts for you.
This is the same that you read something on some website and then post it in your blog.
Take in mind that is the same content that you has read before. If you abuse it, some search engines don’t like it. But in almost all cases will be indexed normally if you do the things smartly.

I have used the the free version of your plugin and I like to buy the pro but I have just one question to ask. is it possible to attribute the read more( with the source link) in the bottom of the post? instead of on the “title,permalink”. That is after you click on the title it takes you to the content detail page where you are presented with some contents of the article and then the read more link under it. I can’t see that working in the free verson and it appears it is also not in the pro version. Please let me know and reply asap.

This is working well for me on a test site, but I’m having a problem with a certain feed. Looking through the feed validation, it looks like the feed has no {content} sections – only {teaser} sections. The owner of the feed (who has given permission to import as posts) said they can increase the size of the teaser to include the whole article, but they would have to build something new if we needed the {content} section. Is there any way to adjust WPematico to use the content in {teaser} for the post content (on just one feed – not others I have running)?

It seems that your site has been hacked or code injected on yours files.
You can compare your file with original file on wpematico plugin on wordpress repository to check differences
If you want only deactivate the plugin you can do with FTP access to your plugin directory and rename or delete wpematico folder

Esteban, When we create a new campaign, we do not have the option to save the posts extracted as DRAFT. If I click on the PUBLISH section on the RIGHT all I see is Move to trash, run now and update. I do not see the radio buttons for STATUS and POST TYPE

I have tested your feed and is working well with default options.
I have downloaded your plugin in an attempt to use it, at the recommendation of a friend and am having the issue of only receiving 10 posts at a time, no matter how I configure the retrieval. I have disabled hash/duplicate with the same results. I have set the quantity to 0, to allow the maximum amount to be retrieved. All it does, is either duplicate the originally 10 received, or tells me that there is a duplicate hash. So the check for duplicate content is working, however, I am unable to get more than a total of 10. I’ve also tried using the feed date – all seem to fail to get more than 10. Is the free version limited to 10 at a time per feed? What is causing this to only retrieve 10? I’ve tried setting 20, 25 and unlimited. Getting frustrated as I can’t seem to get it to work as I need it. I don’t want to abandon it if its something that isn’t set correctly. Please advise.
There is no limits with free version.
May be your source feed has no more than 10 items?
Anyway I think that the best configuration is receive 2 or 3 items with a cron every hour. If your source has too many publications you can set cron every 5 or 10 minutes.

Hi.. so I am loving this plugin.
However I have an issue for my site.
As my rss feed that I am calling is used for events. These events are posted with a date in the future. This is fine as your plugin changes the date.
Unfortunately if I post my rss events out of sequence the plugin finds the duplicate first and then doesn’t process any other events that may remain. Is it possible for it to continue reading the RSS if it finds a duplicate rather than stopping at that point?
It is very rare that an item be added to middle of a feed, then to save server load, the process is interrupted when found the first duplicated item. (this may work wrong with manual campaigns fetching but works well in cron mode)
Then if you want to try, may be possible a little trick on a file to get it to continue over all other items. Have in mind that this will work for all campaigns. (I not recommend this because all items on feeds will be readed many times.)
1. Activate Allow Hash Duplicate feature from Plugin Settings.
2. Now you must open an edit a file: plugin_dir/app/campaign_fetch.php
go to line 105:
break;
replace with:
continue;
Now you can try if it working as you want.

Great plugin thank you. I have the pro version and have some trouble with regex, and also with basic keyword filtering not working.
I want to use the global ‘g’ expression modifier – for example:
/(motor car)|(racing car)/ig
but WPematico flags it as an error:
[WARNING] preg_match(): Unknown modifier ‘g’
And when I use the keyword filters (one per line) it only looks at the top one and ignores the rest.

Hi … When I connect WPeMatico to a rss feed that comes from Google Alerts, my titles contain a and a tag. Also those “b’s” are in the link of the article that is posted.
Any idea how to remove those tags and prevent that those extra b’s get into the post-url?
I saw that there is an answer to this question is posted few years ago (https://www.wpematico.com/wpematico/#comment-6584) but this doesn’t do the trick for me …

Hi, It’s like you have to many feeds in some campaigns. You can add unlimitted feeds in every campaign, but is limited by your server resources and also time to load every feed.
You can change timeout seconds on Settings, but I recommend less url feeds in every campaign and fetch 2 or 3 items every time.

First.. I love this plugin! I do have a suggestion.. It would be amazing to be able to pass an expiry date from the original posts to the created posts. As I use this plugin for events rather than news an expiry date is something I need to do manually 🙂 Just a thought!

Esteban, If I send in a feed which has a youtube video, Wpematico strip out the Iframe component of the feed. So the video does not display on the web page. Here is an example of an rss with video http://healthnutrisystems.com/rss_feeds/test/hil_gestational-complications.xml . If you look at the feed using any editor you will see the Iframe (View source in IE). The use Wpematico on the RSS feed and the page that results does not have the Iframe. So not video will show up on the page

You can also test it with version beta 1, it’s published since july 10 to make tests like this.
New version can enable or disable feed content tag filters, that come with simplepie library. (like iframe or embed that takes out videos)
Remember that free version just take feed content of sources.
I need beta testers, sponsors, etc. as almost all features are for free. I have lot of work to do and money can help.

1) With the Current version I went to PRO options and ENABLED – Enable attempt to Get Full Content feature. When I do this, I can get the video down to wordpress post correctly although some images which were in the original post do not appear to come across. Unchecking this options, gets all the images down correctly but does not get the video
2) I tried the 1.2 Beta version. “Enable full content” would not get the video down. Also if you enable “Get Images from RSS” with “Add firsts to images on content. (Make featured)” and save it, it does not save it (The checkmarks disappear)

Is it possible to add “throttling” to the “Pro” version of the plugin? We have a client whose site comes to a crawl when pulling in new posts, and I think the server would be able to handle it better if we could throttle to one article import every few seconds rather than in one big pull.
This is a really good plugin, by the way. Best in class.
Is it possible to add “throttling” to the “Pro” version of the plugin? We have a client whose site comes to a crawl when pulling in new posts, and I think the server would be able to handle it better if we could throttle to one article import every few seconds rather than in one big pull.
This is a really good plugin, by the way. Best in class.

I recently started using the free version of the plug in, and I am ready to jump into the paid version. Before I purchased, I had a quick question: Can each feed in a campaign be assigned to it’s own category? I know each campaign can be a category, but I need each RSS feed to be its own, within the campaign. I could easily create 1 campaign per RSS, but that seems like it will cause more work when the crontab kicks off the pull.

The plugin don’t allow categories per feed, anyway for performance is better more campaigns with assigned categories working with single feeds on different scheduled times.

Thank you for the quick reply. I will schedule my feeds per category. I was going to use crontab to kick off the WP cron. I am not sure if it is possible to have crontab kick off a particular campaign directly, or if it just runs all of wordpress’ cron jobs at the same time.

I am using the free version for couple of weeks and am very happy about it. But since the last update two days ago it is not working anymore. I use Fivefilters.org generated RSS feeds. For many weeks it worked, but just after the update, it is not posting anymore. Please tell me where and what I have to check? I didn’t change anything else.

I turned on “Activate Planning” .
In the morning checked – pictures in the posts there , and no text ! Just one picture and all .
Good. Disables the “Activate Planning” .

That doesn’t seem like a WPeMatico problem. Contact your server provider support group. It sounds as if maybe idiots are trying to log in to your server, which is something that the Wordfence plugin can help with — tell Wordfence to block IPs which fail too many logins.

The New version 1.2.4 is able to get the post down from the RSS but it keeps spinning and spinning and does not set the featured image to the post. If I open the WordPress post I am able to see the image. I have already confirmed that “Make featured RSS image” is checked on the campaign. Is there something on the post that wpematico does not like that is causing it to go continuously spin and go into an indefinite loop thereby causing the high CPU utilization. See RSS feed on initial ticket
Also with version 1.2.4, wpematico is setting featured image as the last image in the post. We really would want the first image as the featured image and that is the way the earlier version and previous versions used to work. Totally waste if not possible to image.
I’m able to pull the images. It might have to do with your theme. Take a look at my site http://www.longislandfirephotos.com The image displayed is the feature image of the post.
Version 1.2.5 solves many issues with images, included Hil and Roy comments and also Link titles to source asked by Christian.

Anyway I think it is possible change the charset with adding a wordpress filter to change the content before insert the post.

you can disable in your theme to not show the featured image in single pages content.
There are another solutions but requires some external filter to strip images from content before save or before show the image in your theme.

I just downloaded and am LOVING it so far. However, I have selected to use the original date for a YouTube Feed. It is posting day/time it reads the feed instead of the original date from YouTube. Here is my feed url:

I love WPeMatico, in fact, I was looking at purchasing it for use on our site. I have this issue that is super annoying me, however. If I do a manual fetch, the messages display in the activity feed of the BuddyPress powered side. But when it does the auto-fetch, it does not display. It did do this at one point, but now it doesn’t, which leads me to believe there is a setting somewhere I messed with but I cannot figure it out. Can you tell me?
